2023 芋ほり遠足Teachers‘ Comments

Everyone was very excited to start digging for sweet potatoes, so much so that there were many trying on their gloves in the bus. They were hesitant at first, but the students found it very exciting to pull out such massive, sweet potatoes. We all had fun and will remember the experience with fond memories. –

 

みんな早くイモ掘りをしたくてワクワク。バスの中で手袋を着けて準備万端の生徒も多かったです。生徒たちは最初は戸惑っていましたが、大きなサツマイモを掘り出すことができて大興奮。とても楽しかったです！　この経験は楽しい思い出として生徒たちの記憶に刻まれるでしょう。

 

This year’s Sweet Potato Dig was on a day with excellent weather. The children really enjoyed digging and searching for their hidden treasures. The entire day went very well and finished with a really fun outdoor lunch. It was great to see their smiling faces from having such a good time. –

 

今年のイモ掘りは天気に恵まれた一日でした。子どもたちは、隠された宝物を掘ったり探したりすることをとても楽しんでいました。一日中とても順調に進み、本当に楽しい屋外でのランチで終わりました。 楽しい時間を過ごした彼らの笑顔を見ることができ、とても嬉しかったです。

The students got deep down and dirty searching for their treasure of potatoes. They really enjoyed flinging the soil around to get to the potatoes. It was great to see the smile on their faces as they found their potatoes.

 

生徒たちは宝物のサツマイモを探して土の中を深く掘り泥だらけになりました。彼らはサツマイモを掘りあてるために周りの土を掘り返すことを本当に楽しんでいました。サツマイモを見つけたときの子どもたちの笑顔を見ることができて、とてもうれしかったです。

 

Our potato digging trip was an absolute blast! The kindergarteners were so excited to get their hands dirty and dig up potatoes. The joy on their faces when they found their own potatoes was priceless! It was an amazing hands-on experience I’m sure they will never forget.

 

私たちのイモ掘り遠足は本当に楽しかったです！ 園児たちは大喜びで手を汚してサツマイモを掘りました。 自分のサツマイモを見つけたときの彼らの喜びの表情は、何にも代えがたいものでした。 それは素晴らしい実践的な経験であり、彼らは決して忘れることはないでしょう。–

 

Once again, we had the opportunity to experience farming life by digging for sweet potatoes. The weather was perfect and the anticipation of uncovering a sweet delicacy was felt by all the students. The children were all aglow as they struck it rich with sweet potatoes. The next day, many of my students were eager to show their sweet potatoes in their lunches. A truly memorable and amazing experience for all.

 

今回もイモ掘りを通じて農業体験をする機会に恵まれました。天気は完璧で、甘い珍味を発見することへの期待が生徒全員に感じられました。突然思いがけずに土の中でサツマイモを触り当てた時の子どもたちの目はキラキラと輝いていました。 翌日多くの生徒たちが、前日に掘ったサツマイモが自分のお弁当に入っていることを我先に教えてくれました。 誰にとっても本当に思い出に残る素晴らしい経験でした。

 

The students had a great time on our potato digging field trip. Experiencing the sites of the farm and gaining a deeper connection with how food is grown, is an invaluable one. Digging down into the dirt and seeing the potatoes all the students had big smiles on their faces. The whole group was happy and enjoying themselves throughout the day and I’m sure all the students would look forward to another trip to the farm.

 

生徒たちは芋掘り遠足でとても楽しい時間を過ごしました。 農場の現場を体験し、食べ物がどのように栽培されているかをより深く知ることは、非常に貴重な体験でした。土を掘ってサツマイモが出てきたのを見て生徒たちは皆満面の笑みを浮かべていました。 クラス全体が一日中幸せで楽しかったです、生徒たち全員が次の農場への遠足を楽しみにしていることでしょう。

 

The Preschool 2 students had so much fun on our potato digging field trip at the farm! They really enjoyed digging with their hands and were amazed by how bountiful their harvests were. The students are definitely excited for the next adventure!

 

プリスクール２の生徒たちは、農園でのイモ掘り遠足をとても楽しんでいました！ 土の中を手で掘っていくことが楽しく、そしてその豊かな収穫に皆驚いていました。 生徒たちは間違いなく次の冒険をとても楽しみにしていることでしょう。

We started out our field trip to the potato farm by bus with bright skies looming above. All three schools came together as the students were able to get down and dirty digging deep in the soil for their prized potatoes. It was great fun as each handful of turned soil uncovered more delectable treats. I am sure many special memories were made from our day of harvesting in the beautiful outdoors.

 

私たちは明るい空が広がる中、バスでサツマイモ農園へ出発しました。 ３校とも力を合わせ、生徒たちは貴重なサツマイモを求めて土を深く掘り続けることができました。土をひと握りずつ取り払うごとに、おいしいおやつが発見されるのがとても楽しかったです。 美しい自然の中で収穫した一日は、特別な思い出がたくさんできた一日でした。

 

We had a great little adventure on our potato digging field trip. The students were excited from the very beginning, and remained in very high spirits throughout the day. As we had been learning about farms and fall, seeing and experiencing the 'harvest’ for real, was a special treat for the students. I am sure it is a memory that will stay with them in the years to come.

 

私たちはイモ掘りの遠足で素晴らしい小さな冒険をしました。 生徒たちは最初から興奮していて一日中、とても元気でした。 畑や秋について学んできた私たちにとって、実際に「収穫」を見て体験することは特別な楽しみでした。 きっとそれは何年も彼らの心に残る思い出になると思います。

 

Potato digging was so much fun! Preschool worked very hard digging by hand, and they were so proud of the size of their potatoes. Everybody enjoyed getting dirty and working in the field. It was a great opportunity for our students to learn about farming in a hands-on environment.

 

芋掘りはとても楽しかったです！ 園児たちは一生懸命手で土を掘り、掘り出した自分たちのサツマイモの大きさを自慢し合っていました。 みんな泥だらけになることを楽しみながら畑仕事を楽しみました。 生徒たちにとって、農業について実践的な環境で学ぶ素晴らしい機会となりました。

 

This year’s trip was lots of fun, as always. The P2 students very much enjoyed their time travelling out to the farm, playing travel games. Then, at the farm, they got to enjoy a more rural setting, digging their potatoes out of the ground by hand. It was great for them to experience farming with their fellow classmates, from all schools. Afterwards, they all had a great time at a park. They had a nice little picnic, followed up with plenty of time to play and explore. Many of the P2 students decided to climb around on the play park apparatus. It was a wonderful time, and I am glad that they all made great memories together. I look forward to the next school trip, and I am sure the students are as well.

 

毎年そうであるように今年の遠足もとても楽しかったです。 P2 の生徒たちは行きのバスの中で旅行ゲームをして楽しい時間を過ごしました。 農場ではサツマイモを手で地面から掘り出し、田舎の環境を満喫しました。各学校のクラスメートと一緒に農業を体験できたことは素晴らしいことでした。 その後はみんなで公園で素敵な小さなピクニックを過ごし、その後、遊んだり探索したりと十分な時間を過ごしました。 P2 の生徒の多くは、プレイパークの遊具に登ったりして楽しみました。みんなで素敵な思い出を作れたことを嬉しく思います。私は次回の遠足を楽しみにしていますが生徒たちもきっと同じだと思います。

 

 

全員が自分の植物に取り組み、地下に生えているサツマイモをすべて見つけようとしました。 自分たちのサツマイモに集中して満足している生徒の姿がとてもうれしかったです。 友達に役立つアドバイスをしたり、難しすぎる場合には手を差し伸べたりする生徒も見られました。

 

Potato digging was a wonderful activity. The kindergarten students had recently learned all about farms in our, “Fall/ Harvest” unit, so it was great for them to visit a farm in person. The children got to see different crops as well as put their strength to the test when harvesting their potatoes. We were fortunate to have beautiful sunny weather which made our picnic lunch all the more enjoyable. Most importantly, the students really enjoyed themselves.

 

イモ掘りは素晴らしいアクティビティでした。 幼稚園児たちは、「秋・収穫」の単元で、農場について詳しく学んだばかりだったので農場を直接訪問することができたことは素晴らしかったです。子どもたちはさまざまな作物を観察したり、サツマイモの収穫に力試しをしたりしました。幸運にも素晴らしい天気にも恵まれ、ピクニックランチはさらに楽しくなりました。 最も重要なことは、生徒たちが本当に楽しんでいたということです。
